I think Anne Tyler's a legend - 'The Accidental Tourist' is one of my favourite books. John Le Carre would also be in my top three, along with Ian McEwan. Honourable mentions to Irish writers Roddy Doyle, Hugh Leonard and Brian Moore.

That's a hard question, considering I have lots of authors who I like and appreciate but I do think B.A. Paris is a pretty good author.

I'm not saying she's amazing or that you'll definitely enjoy her novels, but I would recommend reading some of her books if you like psychological thrillers. :)

I heard a lot of rumors going on this past weeks about J.K. Rowling, any fans here to defend her side as I have read on the internet she got a lot of haters.

Gosh, where to start. I would like to say I'm a lover of all genres and truly I am but I certainly have a favorite which is historical romance. Who wouldn't fall in love with Johanna Lindsey's novel. I think I might have read almost all of her books, Captive Bride, her very first, is definitely a must read. Elizabethh Lowell is also one of the best. Karen Robards, Julie Garwood, Jude Deveraux, to name a few. The list goes on and on, really.

David McCullough is my favorite author. Every book he writes is thoroughly researched and told in such a compelling manner.

Favorite fiction author would be Lucy Maud Montgomery. I love her Anne series...she has a pleasant way of pulling a reader into her characters' worlds.
Non-fiction favorite is an oldie but goodie... J.R Miller.
A Christian author who shares Biblical encouragement for the believer's daily walk with Christ.
More old favorites are Andrew Murray, Charles Spurgeon, and Mrs. C. E Cowman.

Same, I was just about to post LM Montgomery when I saw your reply. I also loved her book 'The Blue Castle', it's more geared towards adults, but a lovely read and a very likeable protagonist.

Other than that, I really love Jojo Moyes, as well.

My favorite author is Penny Vincenzi. Unfortunately I found that she has recently passed away. When I heard, I felt as if a good friend had died. She wrote the best sagas. Usually starting in England in the early 1900’s she then brings the story to more recent times by bringing in generations of family members. There is love, hardship, deceit, just a great storyteller.

Shalomsamuels1 wrote: 15 Sep 2018, 19:49 Brandon Sanderson would have to be one of my favorites. He is consistently great and I don't think he has reached his full potential yet. George R. R. Martin is also great but besides for A Song Of Ice and Fire his other writing isn't that impressive. J.K. Rowling has the same issue. She wouldn't be able to replicate anything even close to Harry Potter. (Case in point, Cursed Child *shudder*). John McCrae (a.k.a. 'Wildbow') is also one of my favorites as Worm is my favorite book. Honorable Mentions: Pat Rothfuss, Rick Riordan.
I echo the bold partly RESOUNDINGLY. McCrae is a master. While I found it really hard to get into Pact, I absolutely LOVED Twig. I didn't think he'd be able to make anything even close to Worm, but I ended up falling in love with Twig's characters so hardcore. Worm is still my favorite by him, though. It's honestly one of my favorite stories of all time, if not my most favorite, though I still have to read Ward.

Taylor is one of the most strategical and resourceful protagonists I've read in my life. She was totally unique. I thought it was really gutsy that he decided to give his protagonist a "lame" power - it turned out to be the most versatile thing she could've had. Which is funny, considering how many times she talks about feeling envy over other people's powers.

There's also an audiobook, too.

My favorite author is Franz Kafka. Not only is his work strange, but his posthumous legacy is, for a lack of a better term, kafkaesque. :tiphat:
