Mine too! I am clinging to a very threadbare unabridged version. You can get totally lost in that book.

King is an extremely talented author. While some stories fall behind, some are fantastic. Examples are (as some have been mentioned): The Stand, The Dark Half, IT, Carrie, and the Dark Tower books. Those were my favorites at least.

I also read, enjoyed, and was inspired in some capacity by On Writing. I have been writing for a while and had been when I started it, but when someone asks me where they should go if they need advice or are confused about writing, I send them to that book (along with others of course). It's like getting a big long pep talk about the rewards of writing, if that is what you're into.

Yes. I am a big King fan.

I read everything he wrote for a while, but in about 1995 I got bored with him. So I'd recommend some of the earlier ones, Salem's Lot, Christine, Firestarter, also the collection called the Bachman Books and the first two short story collections.

I am not a big King fan. I used to read his books but gave it up many years ago. But the book Cujo stayed with me a long time.

I have a very close tie between two of King's books, Salem's lot and Pet Cemetery.

Make sure you set aside a week or so to read each. They are so very long!

I'm always going to love Carrie. It was the first King book that I read. The second was The Stand- the complete uncut version that he released because he wasn't happy with how much ended up on the cutting room floor. It was insanely huge but I loved it. Ended up going through it in less than a week. It hooked me.

I have read everything he has written/published. I especially like the psychological turn he has taken lately...psychological thrillers instead of spook/supernatural monsters. Human monsters are much scarier.

I can't say that I have a favorite book or series by him. I love all of his books. I collect his books also because he is easily one of my favorite authors. I do however have a favorite movie adaption of one of his books. It is "Rose Red." I think that it is an excellent movie.
