I have never been let down by Lisa See. Her books are compelling and unusual in topic, they are not all rainbows and sparkles but rather are true to life.

Sandra Brown would be one I can count on to keep my interest from front to back. I have yet to read one of her books that has ever let me down.

Kurt Vonnegut. Some of his stories are a bit strange, but they are all good. I had read a short story entitled "Harrison Bergson" by him while I was in high school and I liked it quite a bit. Years later at a secondhand store I saw a paperback version of his "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" and I bought that. I think the next one I read was "Slaughterhouse Five" and since then I've read quite a few of his books. If I could meet a writer, he would have been near the top of my list.

The authors I can always count on to deliver are Ilona Andrews, Mercedes Lackey and Margaret Atwood. I've always loved all of their books.

Fredrik Backman. I have all his fiction novels and have been eyeing his non-fiction book for a while now. I used to obsess over Haruki Murakami, but his recent novel,The Killing Commendator, was a bit of a let down.

An author that was always there for me was Mary Higgins Clark. Throughout my childhood, I knew I could always escape within pages of any of her books. I started reading her novels when I was really young, and I am still excited when I find one I haven't had the pleasure of reading yet. I was not aware of her influence on my life until she passed away recently. I'll admit something: When I saw that she had passed away, I was devastated. My husband came into the room with me curled into a ball of tears. When I explained why I was upset, I felt like a complete idiot because I hadn't even met her. I felt like I had lost a dear friend. Only then did I realize just how big of an impact she had on my life.
