Probably Tolkien. And it would be awesome if he then read ASOIAF and wrote fanfiction about Westeros!!! Best of both worlds right?

Only one....wow, that's difficult! First, Agatha Christi, then Samuel Clements, after that, Isaac Asimov. Sorry, I couldn't do just one!

That would be two authors for me, Jane Austen and Sidney Sheldon. I started reading both of them in college.

I think that it would be appropriate if the author that came back from the dead was one who wrote about zombies while alive, don't you think?

Edgar Allan Poe. I guess some people would call him a poet rather than an author, but I'd still want to bring him back.

OK, if it could be anybody .... absolutely ANYBODY .... I would bring back the apostle John who wrote The Gospel of John. Then I'd hire the very best police artist in the country no matter how much the services cost and have John describe Jesus' facial features while the artist drew his portrait because I would really, really like to know what he looked like. It's not a religious thing, just an unaccountable obsession. Barring that, I'd settle for Willa Cather, but based upon what I've already seen of her facial features I'd prefer that she arrived wearing a mask of some sort.

I find DATo's comment extremely interesting. There is some wisdom there! Bringing back someone who made a HUGE impact on humanity makes sense. As for me then that would be the Apostle Thomas who wrote the book "The Gospel of Thomas." The manuscript was found in 1945 and was a huge controversy within the organized Christian religions because what he wrote was so.....shocking?

He begins with, "I am Thomas...the TWIN of Jesus."

Now if that isn't a powerful lead in sentence I don't know what could top it.

So after skimming through 15 pages...I recommend bring back the Apostle Thomas for a chat.

I'm torn between Jane Austen (I would love to hear her take on Tinder, blind dating, and society in general) and C.S. Lewis (the man who had a brilliant imagination and made me first fall in love with reading).

I would without a doubt choose to bring Edgar Allen Poe back. I have never reread anything as much as I read Poe's "The Raven." There is a depth to his wording that almost seems like music. Every time I read it it's like there is a predetermined speed I should read at in certain parts. I want to know how he managed to blend both dark sometimes heavy concepts with beautiful rhythmic words.
