Robin Sharma is my favorite Indian author (Some refer to him as Canadian writer, but his origin is in India.) when it comes to self-help books. In fiction authors, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni (She is also said to be an American author with Indian origin.)
One book, printed in the heart's own wax Is worth a thousand in the stacks.

Amish Tripathi tops the list for me! I couldn't stop myself from finishing the novels at one go. Shiva Trilogy is the best! However, I wasn't satisfied with the third part. Chetan Bhagat comes second for me. His writing style is more like screenplay writing. Like, he is sure it's going to be made into a film. I guess he is intentionally writing that way to decrease the burden for the screenplay writers.

I love Kamala Markandaya's works. She is quite underrated, in my opinion.

"My favorite Indian author is Arundhati Roy. Her exquisite prose and thought-provoking narratives captivate me. Roy's ability to weave intricate stories while addressing social and political issues is truly commendable. 'The God of Small Things' remains a masterpiece, showcasing her literary prowess. Her commitment to activism and fearless expression in both fiction and non-fiction further elevates her as a literary icon. Roy's work not only entertains but also challenges perspectives, making her my cherished choice among Indian authors."

I really like the author Ruskin Bond! He has stayed in the hilly regions in the northern part of India for almost the entirety of his lifetime, and still does!
