My favorite author in High School was Piers Anthony. I loved every Xanth novel ever written. I have recently discovered there are a few I haven't read as high school was over 20 years ago.

Ally Carter and Rick Riordan. They wrote very different books but I read a bit of everything in high school.

I was obsessed with Melissa Marr, I wanted to read all her books and I did. The Wicked Lovely series saw me through some of my harder years.

In high school, I went through a Jane Austen phase. Her books were the perfect way to indulge in an old-time romance.

S.E. Hinton ever since we read the Outsiders in 9th grade. Emily Dickinson was my favorite poet, and I enjoyed the classics as well. I was the one rare kid who read Shakespeare because I honestly liked it, rather than I had to for any course. Also, Agatha Christie, and Stephen King... I read anything I could get my hands on.

Jane Austen and Mary Shelley. I can't pick one over the other.
Heart! We will forget him!
You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

Emily Dickinson

I am not sure that I had a favourite since there was more than one. I was reading books by Enid Blyton, Patricia St. John, F.W. Dixon, Richmal Crompton and I can't remember who else.

Hands down, my favorite author was L.J. Smith. At the time that I was in high school there weren't a lot of YA novels about supernatural topics. She was one of the first to really write about vampires, witches and werewolves. At least in my memory. After that, I moved on to more adult books and near the end of high school Terry Goodkind was also a favorite.

In high school I was still pretty hooked on Stephen King
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST

I loved R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series all through high school and there were these books that looked like they were diaries that I loved but I can’t remember what they were called. I also loved Nora Roberts.
