Writing in a way reminds of me of a quote on influence from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray - "to influence a person is to give him one’s own soul." When I write I place some of my soul into my characters, how then can they be anything but real, even if only to myself.

Saying that makes me feel like I'm a bit schizophrenic, haha. But I really do feel like my characters are real, if only to me and the people who read my work.
