Favourite Christian themed Authors

Post by classicsnob »

Dostoevsky
A great defender for the Christian faith in my opinion. Fyodor disliked atheism and especially negative nihilism which partly led to the Communist State in Russia. (and of course European liberalism plus Marxism)

How many people now refer to the Brothers Karamazov as epic literature? As well as Crime and Punishment. I think these two books are essential reading for intellectual Christians.

I need to read The Idiot because of the Christ figure main character.
He was of course the great psychologist too. (Dostoevsky)

I don't really read Christian themed authors but I read a book once about a prostitute who met a godly man and fell for him so hard that she abandoned her profession. I can't remember the name of the book or the author but I would love to read it again. The protagonist was called Michael.

I really like Ted Dekker as an author. He's a Christian and many of his books are rather allegorical.

@classicsnob I completely agree with you! Dostoyevsky is one of my favorite authors. The way he weaves religion into his books so seamlessly without being preachy is beautiful!
The others I love are C. S. Lewis and Marilynn Robinson. Both are so good.

I do not like sci-fi or fantasy. C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia is the only ones I can get through. I also really like Max Lucado.

C. S. Lewis has long been one of my favorite authors. In addition, I have fallen in love with the married couple Brock and Bodie Thoene. They have written a number of historical fiction series that are all Christian themed. The A.D. Chronicles (placed in the time of Christ) and Zion Covenant (following a Jewish family as they move from city to city during World War II) are two of my favorite series by these authors.
