One thing I learnt from the book is that with as much as AI machines make life easier, they have their disadvantages I.e denying humans the freedom of free will.

My greatest takeaway from this book was the importance of being an independent thinker and not just following things blindly. It's crucial to stand up for what you believe in.

Always do what is right, even when everyone else say it is wrong. That is what I learn from this book. It won't be easy, you may even fail. But you will be able to sleep easily at night because you did the right thing.

Everything good also has a bad side. Though AI will make the economy more efficient, it will also give humanity less freedom to live life. This is my take away from this book.

My takeaway from this novel is that we must observe what's happening in our society right now and keep a constant vigil on keeping our rights protected. Though we aren't a society run by AI and the Hierarchy precisely like in the book, our human rights are under threat and worth protecting.

Tara D Morgan wrote: 09 Dec 2022, 13:39 The main thing that has stayed with me from this book is the fact that most of us like technology and want the most up-to-date models. 'Terms of Service' has made me question my own concept of the future and the fact that all the technology COULD, in the end, lead to a dystopian world of our own making! A scary thought!
It is really scary but we hope the human race never comes to that level. But if you ask me, I think the real problematic aspects of technology largely come from our untamed quest to unnecessarily experiment with dangerous zones and angles - sometimes just for fun and show off.

I liked a part towards the end where Kim wonders if the wrong guys won the war and claimed power. This goes to show that regardless of the moral weight of each side in a conflict, history will always be written from the perspective of the victors. Centuries in the future, no one will even know if they were the oppressed or the oppressors.

I like the dynamics that this book is associated with. Technology can be used both as a tool for convenience and a means of destruction. The aspect of 'control’ is emphasized in greater detail to an extent. At times, as we saw with Kim’s daily encounters, things often got out of hand and she was finding it hard to adjust. So both the pros and cons operate on a linear level.

It appears that in our efforts to live a more convenient and comfortable life, we compromise privacy, independence, and individuality. I believe the book serves as a reminder of why we invented technology in the first place. It is intended to make our lives better. It should not deprive us of what makes us human.

One major takeaway from this book is definitely the pros and cons, or advantages and potential disadvantages of AI and technology in the near future. Whilst they help humans to accomplish specific tasks, they also threaten to take full control of their jobs and lives.

The way technology, in the guise of AI, overtook society was one of the things that particularly jumped out to me. That helps me imagine where our nation is going. Most of the things we read about in the book may become reality over the next 100 years, assuming it isn't too far off; robots will rule all aspects of life, even what we eat. We might as well begin preparing for that possibility.

I took away from this book that one's visions or ambitions might not be as helpful to the world as they may believe. Also, it helps me imagine how the world might appear in the future if current trends continue.

My takeaway from the book is that we should not put all of our hope in technology, and that no matter where we work, we should always do what is right so that we do not have to live with the consequences of doing wrong.

This might be a far-fetched point to make but it’s just like the struggle between socialism and capitalism. That idea of everything and everyone being controlled from a center, to me, is a farce. It is only a matter of time till individualism shines through all of that. That’s what happened in Kim’s case. This is my takeaway.
