The theme of police brutality is one of the major themes that I felt. The police's behaviour towards Vietnamese people and was very disturbing. Great book over-all.

Most of the themes in the book were darker, unpleasant themes. I saw a lot of police brutality, racism and discrimination towards women.

What themes did I note down? Love, war, racism, and police brutality are the main themes in noted in the book. The sad part is that we see a manifestation of each of these things around us everyday.

Police brutality was a major theme. There as also war, racism, and human rights activism. Those are the major themes in the book. They reminded me of the lessons we took in English class where we discuss these themes extensively.

Coming from a country where violence and police brutality is quite rampant, I easily took not of the theme of police brutality in this book.

Police brutality is one of the major themes that came into my attention. The way the police treated all the people was really something else to imagine.

Some of the themes that impacted my mind are; racism, police brutality, women's right, and human right. These are serious matters that everyone should take seriously.

Police brutality, activism, racism and suppression of people's rights were themes that stood out to me through the book. I related a lot with police brutality and racism.

The theme of police brutality. The author brought it out so well, and it can easily be relatable with our current lives, how cops treat civilians.

As you say, police brutality, personal ethics, racism, women's rights, but also more personal ones, such as the imperfection of relationships, decision-making, ambition, career goals...It's all surprisingly relatable for being a historical novel.

I could also relate to the ones you did. I found more than ten themes in in. The ones that I noticed at a first glance are; racism, love, police brutality, war, hope, and betrayal.
