Audio books put me to sleep. I can only listen to them while I am driving or walking my dog and I can't be distracted by anything else around me. Sometimes the audio book production is so well done with various readers or even major actors doing different voices. Other times, I'd rather listen to my own voice in my head.

I haven't tried audio book before, I'd like to but I will always prefer reading with my own eyes.

I used to think it would be a great idea to listen to an audio book as I went through chores or during travel and such only to have a first listen and realize I did not like it much. It's so impersonal and in a monotone that I found it hard to really try and connect with the story. It was such an eye-opener. Some people actually like it that way and that is all well and good but for me it is a no. If you are the kind of person to have an active imagination, I would say to go for reading it yourself. Find time and just read.

I get migraines from reading print or even font on an ebook for a long period of time, so audiobooks are great for me. I love to listen to them while relaxing, or even while I do housework.

I understand that the audio format may not be for everybody, but I enjoy it.

When I was a kid we used to spend a lot of time in the car and would listen to books on tape while driving. As an adult, I will occasionally borrow audiobooks from the library when preparing for a road trip, but I've recently found that I enjoy listening to Podcasts more than Audiobooks. I will always enjoy reading stories more than listening to them.

I've never tried listening to audio books but I would really like to one day. I'm not sure it'll be better than reading for yourself though.

For me, it depends on who is reading the book as well as, if they have sound effects included. I love them if those two things are done well. I don't think anything replaces reading though. :techie-studyinggray:

I've tried listening to audiobooks, but I end up cutting it and read the book myself. Because it feels like the ride is not satisfactory when you let other people take the handle.

I am a big fan of audiobooks, but I prefer to listen to fiction and read nonfiction. I find nonfiction demands more attention.

As a migraine sufferer, I have come to prefer audiobooks. I can still read ebooks & paper books, but only in small increments at a time. I could listen to an audiobook for hours, and not worry about triggering a headache.

Personally, I love audio books but it my enjoyment usually depends on how much I like the voice of the reader. By that I mean how well their tone and articulation fits with the narrative being read. Some books are actually better suited to the audio book medium overall.

I enjoy audio books when I’m on the go, but sometimes the readers voice sounds like a robot and I don’t like that.

For me, I did not get the same satisfaction when I listened to books as I do when I read them. It seems that I was more concentrated on listening or catching everything that the narrator was saying then I spent indulging in what whas going on in the book itself.
