I think John did the right thing not to mention his amnesia. It's a personal matter, and the trust issue is a valid point. Who do you trust, the wife you can't remember, the friend working with you, however not remembering him? If he informed them, the story would have been dull.

For the sake of the story I think it's better as he didn't tell anyone. It made the story more interesting and fun. If he had told someone we would have gotten another thing entirely. The person might have helped him or uses it against him.

Not to sound cliché but I believe that honesty is the best policy. But I could understand why he didn't want to tell someone because it is not an easy thing to do. But in the long run if he told someone he could avoided a lot of things.

The society 's opinion about mental health has been sensitive therefore also John knew that he could not just openly explain to people. He also needed time to accept his condition and views he could get from the society either negative or positive upon learning of it.

It was common sense for him to do so but had he, we wouldn't have a majority of the plot would we? So, no I'm glad with the way things unfolded.

Such a serious mental problem as Amnesia shouldn't be something to hide. It is perhaps because he had good reasons to keep things out of the light.
