It's appalling that even to this day, racism is still an issue. It's too bad that one will consider another inferior because of their race. It reminds me of Born a Crime by Trevor Noah. It's encouraging that despite the odds. Dr. Douglas was able to succeed

Every story is a thread in the tapestry of life. It's a good thing that the author got to weave his story, despite racism and all the obstacles in his path.
Congratulations, BOTD.

It's unsettling how racial discrimination is still somewhat prevalent even nowadays, shown in the recent BLM protests and numerous public outcries every year in America. Imagine how bad it was during Douglas' time, during the perhaps the peak of racism.

It's inspiration how Douglas was able to carve a name for himself as a scholar in a time where the odds where so heavily stacked against a person of his race. Very insightful review.

The book reveals the mental and emotional torture that those facing racism undergo. In addition, the character thinks that migrating, changing the school level it will change but becomes worse.

What I admire most about this memoir is how Douglas was fearless to his superiors when something did not sit right with him. Coming from a background Of hardship, he is a true example of how to overcome obstacles in life. The biggest challenge, racial discrimination, is still present in the modern day and it would be of great importance if people would take their time to educate themselves on the latter for our future's sake.

This book seems very interesting. I generally enjoy memoirs, especially those focused on social issues such as racism.

Sadly, racism has filtered through every segment of human affairs, including educational institutions. I had once received a complaint about this.

Dr. Frank L. Douglas’ life's journey can be said to be one filled with uncertainties and joys. Racism isn't a good thing to be experienced. It should be abolished.

The line "I have a dream....." based on color discrimination really touched me. I will like to read whole book of it. I just read sample now.

This memoir deals with the issue of racial discrimination in educational institute ( medical school). I would like to know more about this so I would go for this read. Thank you for the review!

As you rightly say he unfortunately became a victim of this wrong way of thinking.
I liked the fact that the author recognised the challenges he was facing as a youngster andd used them as opportunities for growth....... These difficulties he faced strengthend him and helped in his later life.
He didn't give up hope on his dreams. This sense of hope is. senseed as you read the book.. He keeps the passion his dream his hope alive and pursues it with courage.
There are things you can take away from that book that can encourage you in your life journey. Thank you for this review.

Douglas's life style was indeed an inspiring one and so pathetic too, it gives Hope to the hopeless . At the middle of all the UPS and down He was brave and hard-working and that was the only means his goals was achievable.
