Unfortunately, racism is still a global issue. Some have missed life-altering opportunities due to not being of a specific race. The novel sounds very insightful. Thank you for your review!

It was an excellent, thorough review. The summary properly covered the contents of the book without necessarily spoiling anything. As a reviewer myself, I hope to be able to write reviews like this one someday.

This book is so much more in depth than the title reveals. His scholarship is a turning point in his life that seems to lead him into events, including discrimination, that were very unexpected. Thanks for this in depth review!

I like books that inspire the readers to keep going and pursuing dream despite obstacles. I am very inclined of Dr. Douglas' s story because I also have experienced discrimination since school days. I think there are a lot of lessons to learn from his life and his success story is inspiring. Congrats BOTD!

Thanks for your review. A book that reveals the trend of racial discrimination in educational institutions and in business organizations is a worthy read.

I think the story of any black American is always characterised by struggle against discrimination. Well, I like how this reality always shape their life to be strong and resilient.

I also don't like the use of jargon which may otherwise detract my reading experience. Thank you for the succinct review.

Dr. Douglas' memoir sounds very inspiring. Through his determination and hard work, he received a scholarship to study at Lehigh University and later at Cornell University Medical School. He had to adjust to a totally different culture and even face discrimination. I would like to read this book. Congratulations on BOTD!

Dr. Frank. L. Douglas's journey from poverty and hardship to success in medical fields is indeed remarkable and motivating. The struggles of his life did not stop him from achieving his dreams but at the same time he remained humble acknowledging the racial discrimination and favoritism often faced by people of color. Thanks for an honest review of the book!
