The protagonist Fogg bets to travel across the world and was taking help of the estimation of dates published in the daily telegraph. The whole plot of the story is submerged with different parts of the world. The author has very neatly narrated to story providing a very smooth flow to the story.

An interesting and adventurous read.
I wrote a high school term paper on this book. I know the teacher wasn't happy about the choice, but I think she let me do it because she thought I was going to fail and wanted to see it...

I loved this book so much when I was a kid. I actually won it in a competition and have never let go of it ever since. It's an absolutely wonderful read and not too hard to get through.

First, I take it as no small task to post my true sentiments about this.
In childhood, (as a good childhood needs) it brought inspiration, dreams, and imagination.
I will owe it a lifetime's joy.

I read this book many years ago and loved it! It is hard to imagine what a big deal it was to travel around the world in those days. I was intrigued that he may not have made it within the promised time, but for the time difference!

I think that what is amazing also about the author (Jules Verne) is that he had incredible foresight, as he describes many modern technologies when nobody thought they could be created.

What a wonderful book! I had my family read it after I finished it because I couldn’t put it down! A well-written story full of adventure and suspense that keeps the reader guessing. The journey around the world with Fogg paints a fascinating picture of different cultures and lifestyles across the globe. Loved every minute of it!

Around the world in 80 days a book by Jules Verne set in Victorian England 1872. It is much ahead of its time and at places still has a touch of its age; when going around the world in 80 days was thought to be sheer insanity and an impossible task. Verne has subtly projected adventure, love, loyalty and also a brief visit to India and its ritual practices. This book written in a lucid style. A light reading for all ages at all times.

I'm reading it right now. How cool Fogg's travels had such a profound effect! :D I agree, it's such a nice read. Verne so skillfully combines a fantastical plot with silliness (oy, Passepartout...!) and mystery! I have a feeling I'll revisit it again and again just as you have, once I'm finished reading. :) I have his other book, Journey to the Center of the Earth, waiting for me to open it on my nightstand. Have you read it? I'm curious to know if it's anything like Eighty Days! :D
