Dolor wrote: 04 Aug 2018, 06:44 I love a suspenseful mystery with a hint of romance involving family secrets, betrayal, and murder so I'll read this book. I admire your honesty in these lines:

I found myself rooting for their budding romance, despite the cliched knight in shining armor references because Roxanne didn’t behave like a damsel in distress. To the contrary, her character is fiercely independent and headstrong. At the same time, I found Callahan’s sensitivity to provide exactly what Roxanne needed be it a hot meal, car towing or a place to sleep within hours of meeting her a tad unrealistic.

Thanks for the awesome review. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comment.

Thank you. Enjoy!

That's usually my preference, too, but I did enjoy this one. Thanks for your comment.

This was an excellent romantic drama mystery novel full of suspense, solvable mysteries, budding romance, and all in all, an excellent read. I agree with the 4-star rating and can't wait to read the sequel.

Sounds like a decent enough book, but since I prefer the more intense kind of thrillers you mention, I may give it a miss. Thanks for a great review!

I am not a fan of cozy mysteries (or really, any mystery novel), but I know lots of people who are. This sounds like a great book for people who enjoy that genre.

A cozy mystery revolving around murders, a long-kept secret, and one woman's fight for survival sounds intriguing. The book follows Roxanne Boudreaux, who found herself the sole beneficiary of an aunt she didn't know. It is odd and unbelievable that her mother never told her she had a sister. The story does sound a bit cliched, but at least it was well edited and had a couple of twists. Throwing in a bit of romance was a nice touch. Thank you for the review!

Any time some unknown relative wants to leave me money, I'm good with that. Seriously, though, this sounds like a book with many great elements. Mystery, romance, family secrets. It sounds like one I should pick up! Thanks so much for the great review!

I might give this book a chance based on the review. I don’t usually enjoy reading crime/mystery thrillers. I want to give it a chance because I might enjoy the romance aspects of the book.

This "suspenseful mystery with a hint of romance involving family secrets, betrayal, and murder" sounds a captivating read for fans of romance and cozy mystery novels! I also like the author uses a descriptive writing style to tell the story! Plus, it is well edited! As I love the genre, I added this book to my TBR list! Thank you for the wonderful review! :tiphat:

Sounds like another well written book that combined a bit of mystery with a romance. I like books that keep the romantic scenes light such as you described here. I just don’t know if I’m up for a trilogy. When I read the sample pages, I got the feeling that the “aunt” was not really her aunt but rather her mom. Not sure, but it felt like it. Thanks for another informative review...yours are always so good! 😊
