It must have been very difficult for Connors to work with an uncooperative partner while also trying to locate a murderer with little to no leads. Intriguing review. Keep it up!

Yes, this book is a good manual for the police. The absence of romance is not a problem for me at all and detective stories are my favorite. I will definitely read this book. Thanks for the review.

Well developed worlds and characters make such a huge difference in a story, and this book seems to have all the elements that make a great crime thriller. Thank you for your review.

I love detective stories where the characters feel real, including the antagonists. But yes, I can also do without the romance - it sounds as if this bucks the trend in many ways.
This post was brought to you by the word "specifically".

The review is quite helpful. Gives a feeling that the author have aimed and achieved to a strongly character driven narrative. Murder mysteries can become predictable so having an interesting people to root for becomes essential.

I love the books falling under C/T/M/H genre and I am hooking on this one. I really liked the elements of the book as described by the reviewer. The characters are strong with no romance involved between them whatsoever which gives the book a reality touch as the leads are entirely focused on solving the murder mystery. Must be worth a read!

This is an intriguing crime mystery thriller alright. No clues and uncooperative witnesses to saddle up with. Jen Connors is really up against a wall. I could not venture any guess at the outcome as it is what the author has designed this novel to be. We'll have to find that out at the ending. Thanks for the interesting review.

Thanks for your enlightening review, highlighting the lack of romance between the two main characters. That should make a refreshing change as I continue the narrative to see how the story unfolds.

I am not sure why, but I do like police thrillers that involve slightly flawed protagonists, like the alcoholic Cetin Ikmen, for example. Detective Connors sounds like a very intriguing lady. This is definitely one for my "want to read" shelf! Thanks for your great review.
