Initially, I had felt that the love story may affect the entire thriller. I'm still going to read anyway. As you said, it's not one of these sappy love stories!

The romance is there, but it is not the primary focus of the story. It just kind of slowly develops as a secondary interest. The murder and the 'who-done-it' are the exciting part of the book!
