Official Review: Factor-7 by J.D. May
We all have to make choices sometimes. However, when the option is between two evils, it becomes a trap from which there is seemingly no escape. Factor-7 by J. D. May depicts one such scenario.
Dr. Samuel Hawkins had worked in the trauma center of St. Peter's Memorial Medical Center for years, but he had not witnessed any death as horrific as that of Dr. William Roberts, his friend and mentor. The disease that killed him was stranger and deadlier than anything Samuel had ever seen, and it took him a while to realize it. After William's death, he gradually became aware that something strange was afoot, and he may have found himself involved in something bigger than he or anyone else could handle.
This is a fast-paced and thrilling novel. It depicts one man's struggle to understand the circumstances surrounding his friend's death. We see him stumbling into a deadly plot and getting into all manner of dangerous situations.
From the first page, this book caught my attention and held it until the end. I found myself turning the pages quickly to find out what would happen next. I liked that I wasn't confused or disoriented at any point. The author carried me along in the story; he allowed me to sit back and watch the characters in action. It was exciting and captivating, but not exhausting. This was my favorite aspect of the book.
I also admired the author's character development. The characters, with their distinct and consistent traits, gave life to the story. Their thoughts, feelings, and reactions made it real and possible for me to connect with them.
Though the narrative was exciting, I did not find the storyline unique. It was almost predictable in some places and a little streamlined. There were very few twists or surprises. However, the author's writing style and characterization made it enjoyable to read. This was the only issue I had with the story. I wasn't impressed that a book with so much thrill and action would lack the twists that make books in this genre tick.
The author did an excellent job of editing the book professionally. I found only a few errors, and they did not detract my attention from the narrative. Nonetheless, I'd rate it 3 out of 4 stars because it lacked twists, making it somewhat predictable. I'd recommend it to readers who enjoy crime fiction. However, there would not be any twists to engage their minds.

Exactly my thoughts.onyii_review wrote: ↑16 Aug 2021, 14:29 This sounds like an interesting book. If the author had done justice to the suspense and predictability, I would have recommended it to a lot of people I know.
Thanks for the review.
I think the author should've done more with the plot structure.
