Prince Dariu scored the least favorite for me. He simed undecided. Otherwise my favorite is Rawen I loved every scene of him.

Chancellor Maido would be the one person I really disliked. Meldorath is an unexpected anomaly. He sounds like a completely different person in the rest of the books. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us.

I don't quite hate anybody (though this might change, I have only read the first book of the series). And my favorites are definitely Rowan and Demetrius. Their relationship is something else, haha.

I liked Galan and Rowan in this installment. Demetrius was equally likable.
I didn't like Abalaster much.

To me, Galen has been my favorite character. I like his story line, but I'm not sure whether he would still remain my favorite after reading other episodes. Galen has actually went through a lot.

The protagonist Galen Bray is my favourite. He is generous and interested in others welfare. When Rowan expressed a desire to stay with him, he was welcoming.

My favourite was Meldorath. Meldorath is a great man, he knows what he's doing and he plans everything in advance. My least favourite was Prince Darius, since he's the prince, he's going to be a king one day but he doesn't care about anything.

Lord Eldus was one of the best characters. I really liked the relationship between Marshus and Isla. Isla clearly adores him. It's a pity we never got to see Isla working with magic. I was really saddened by their deaths. Can't say I hated anybody, but I certainly didn't like Lord Orlin.
The book to read is not the one that thinks for you, but the one which makes you think.

At first I did not like Meldorath because of how he used magic to destroy people, but later I came to like him because of his act of heroism when Soulhire was being attacked, he also has a strong spirit that strives to get to where he wants even though he doesn't belong there. I also liked Galen as I thought he would be Voulhire's hero, but he proved to be weak and disappointing.

Maido was my least favorite. His nosiness was just too annoying. Meldorath was a close second. I loved Lord Eldus and Galen.

Valkyrie9 wrote: 01 Oct 2020, 02:13 Tysz has developed so many stunning characters in this short first episode. Each one has great depth and is given the attention they deserve. Was there a specific character that you connected with and would say is your favourite? Or, on the other hand, was there a character that you absolutely hated? Do you think the character was intentionally written that way so that we would love/hate them? :techie-studyinggray:
I love Galen.
I respect Meldorath very much. He's probably my favourite character.

I don't think I have a least favourite character though. If I did, it would be Maido.
He is such a dweeb.

The Riva Rohavi weren't so interesting, neither was their host, to be honest. As a rebel faction, I was expecting just a little bit more in terms of intrigue. The only time the Riva Rohavi is mentioned is to play the role of the big, bad wolf or to carry out some brutal scene. There doesn't seem to be any politics or substory when it comes on to them.

Meldorath is my most memorable character. He has both likable and dislikable qualities. But the most striking for me is his profoundness. I find myself musing on his thoughts while reading the book. I think it is intentional to develop characters with flaws. It makes them believable. The imperfections are part of the charm, just like real people.

Galen is my favorite character. I like to see the world of Voulhire in his eyes because he has this sense of wonder and he just stands out to me among all these characters. My least favorite in this installment would probably be Rowan. His dialogues and personality feels a bit out of place in a medieval settings. Although in the books to come, he will grow on you.

My favorite was definitely Galen, it is difficult not to like this boy. He seems very innocent in every level. My least favorite was expectedly Meldorath, as he was clearly the evil one at this point of the story. I am quite sure the author reveals only tiny bits of information about these characters at this point, and we will surely find out unexpected things later. We’ll see if that makes us re-consider the favorites and least favorites.
