I love mystical stories and magic too. "Roan: The Tales Of Conor Archer" by E. R. Barr is just right up my alley.

I have had a hard time finding an urban fantasy that I have enjoyed, but this sounds like a great candidate! I can't wait to try it out. Great review!

Despite the story’s magnitude, however, it takes the life of a classic campfire story. This intrigued me to read the whole book. Thanks for the review.

Although not a huge urban fantasy fan, I do like stories that revolve around a character who has a prophecy to fulfill, so I may give this one a look. Thanks for the review, jacnthabox :techie-studyingbrown:

Excellent review! I am not a fan of fantasy, and I stay away from magic and mysticism. Your review makes this book sound fascinating! Kudos to the author on an excellent start to his writing career! Thanks for the recommendation but I will have to pass on this one. If not for the magic and mysticism I might have given it a try even though it is a fantasy! :lire4:

It is an enthusiastic review of a book that draws on Celtic and Native American myths and Christian tradition, as well as "real" history. Darkness and Light and the fog blurring the borders, good and evil, many good and bad characters.
I recognize the sadness of the Irish ballads, beautiful and sad. There is also the fantasy, creatures of the other world.
To my taste, the pace is a little slow, there are too many words or my patience tends to wear thin on me.
Thank you for the review!

This isn’t my genre of choice, but the writing in the sample pages was awesome. This author knows how to tell a story! Thanks for your excellent review!

I love that is a perfect read for an Urban Fantasy, Epic Fantasy, and Dark Fantasy. Though I'm not really a fan of dark magic story. Thanks for this review. It's just too comprehensive.

I love urban legends; so when you combine that with Celtic lore, mysticism and shapeshifting, how could I resist. The Tales of Conor Archer sounds like an adventure waiting to happen. I can't wait to read it. Congrats to E.R. Barr for giving us Roan and for receiving BOTD honors. :tiphat:

Roan by E. R. Barr, a book about Conor Archer, a Chicago teen who learns of his mysterious Celtic ancestry in the midst of a family tragedy sounds interesting. For the love I have of fantasy genre, I will consider reading it. Great review.
Books are beautiful.

With a review like this, who can argue about this book!? I usually prefer straight science fiction but good fantasy also appeals to me and this book certainly sounds like it includes all the elements required for a good fantasy novel. I like the detailed history and the well developed characters. A bit of Christian and Celtic mythology sounds fun as well. I enjoyed your review and the book certainly sounds absorbing reading as well.
