A set of stories set in a fictional place with different characters but unified theme. Is like knowing a whole little comunity. Interesting. Congratulations on BOTD.

The title of the book itself got me confused if what would be the story, but while reading your review, I guess this is a very good book coz it leaves a lesson to readers on how to appreciate what they already have in life. Thank you for your honest review!

Kudos on getting book of the day with this one, and on a well written review.
As much as I used to love collections of short stories while I was younger, I must admit that I was skeptical about this book when I'd just began reading the sample.
This completely changed as I continued to read both the review and sample. I think this is a great way to rekindle my affair with such compilations.

When I hear short stories, my mind immediately drifts to a collection of random anecdotes. I'd definitely like to read short stories which may be different, yet have a unifying theme, like an Australian bush town in this case. As a guy who grew up in the city, I'd like to read about the rural experience, especially in a country different than mine.

The lesson of appreciation of family and simple things in life conveyed by this book is enough to make me want to give it a try. The romance element is another plus. Nice review.

I've seen a lot of stories coming out of Australia lately, and I've come to have a fondness for Australian contemporary fiction. The fact that this one is multigenerational makes it sound even more interesting. Thank you for the helpful review.

I also agree that Jennie Linnane has a way of triggering emotions. Apart from her descriptive skills and storytelling gift, that's the thing that makes me enjoy her books. I'm sure this collection of short stories set in the Aussie bushland is no different. If "Haystack and Me" brought a smile on my face, "Ginger and Miss Priddle" took me by surprise with the unexpected turn of events. Thanks for a wonderful review!

This sounds like an interesting book but I'm not a fan of collection of short stories. Nice review though.

The topics of the book such as "romance and jealousy, farm labor and toil, grandparents and their relationships with their grandchildren" are very realistic and many people would grab a thing or two from the book.
