I appreciate your high standards, and that you were mindful of the editing errors when you gave your rating. I think that's important, because any book is unlikely to find large success without professional editing.

While the writing in this book does not personally appeal to me, I still think objectively that it is very well-written. The dry wit, which you mentioned, but also the somewhat hyperbolic, but also precise, descriptiveness.

Do you know why on Amazon it lists 3 authors?

Gods Monkey: I didn't prefer the potty humor either, which is part of why I'm not really into this book. However, I think the author is quite clever. She's absolutely nailed the interests and weirdness of pre-pubescent boys. So the subtle humor is not what the boys are saying, but the way it plays into what the adult reader knows about the world.

I think the chapter “Politics” is brilliant; at the start of their campaign to establish a one-party state in the school with Bobby as Supreme Leader and Emperor, he patiently explains to Terry that politics is “Never lying to people while avoiding, at all cost, telling the truth.”
I love Terry’s definition of politics! If this line reflects what the rest of the story is like, I’ll definitely have to read it at some point!

This book is masterfully written in a satirical fashion. It is amusing as well as witty. I could not help laughing at the schemes of the Materminders, out to tackle problems like Global Warming, Womens 'Problems, among which was erectile dysfunction, bwa ha ha! They are medical specialists, nuclear wastes disposal entrepreneurs, you name it, they know how to handle it. Thanks to your comprehensive review.

I like the humorous and funny nature of the book. The review is nice and it is well-written. The fact that the duo handles one problem at a time is good. Will definitely consider reading this.

Thanks for this review. I, too, found the sample hilarious - I couldn't help having some good laughs. I'm interested to know what Terry's charity scheme was, and how it turned out.

I'm not much of a reader of satire, and I don't especially like short books (novellas). However, this does sound interesting because of the social issues mentioned. Thanks for your insight on the book.

Admittedly, if there's any Pythonesque humor in this book, I'm sort of obligated to check it out. I prefer fleshed out characters, but I love a humorous books as well. Thank you for the thorough review.

Taking a small, finite, moment in time, a school year at a small Catholic primary school playground, two boys have adventures up the ying-yang using clever schemes and shenanigans to deal with big time problems like Global Warming and politics! Sounds like a hoot!
