I read this book and enjoyed reading it very much. Like you said, it's filled with all sorts of emotions and you don't know what to feel at what moment. So, thanks for the wonderful review.

This sounds very psychological. As someone who's always been interested in how the human mind works, this could be an interesting read. I like that it goes through the ups and downs of his life in his search of power, then his search for redemption. Great review!

I would like to read the story to learn how McDowell deals with tragedy and ambition. Thanks for the review.

I have the impression that the reviews of this book are very polarising; but it seems like the author has created a fine study of human nature through his narrative, as you mentioned. It's also a plus that the book is flawlessly edited. Thanks for the review!

I do agree that the author did such a great job when creating this story to engage its audience. I as well felt a lot of different emotions within different parts while reading this story. This is one that I personally recommend to those that want to read a heart touching story that draws a connection between yourself and the characters of the book.

First of all, William H. Coles is my favorite author. I have read a few of his novels, and they are great. McDowell is one among them. This novel has a close to reality plot. It includes varieties of emotions within the gripping plot. McDowell remains a doctor who treats many patients and serves humanity in all possible ways. The book is about guilt and redemption. Being a suspenseful novel, this book has the potential to entertain many readers. Congrats to the author on BOTD!

I am not usually a fan of books with a lot of crime and mystery in the story but I want to give this book a chance. I like the writing style and the depth of the characters. Even though this is not typically the type of story that I would usually enjoy this book is definitely on my list of books to read.

The author seems to have squeezed to the last drop of his creativity to bring to life such natural characters and intense premise. A remarkable work that is "ripe with just about every emotion known to man" is admirable. Guilt is an overwhelming and destructive feeling, while redemption could heal this disastrous emotion. Through the main character, McDowell, the book seems to underline these two states of mind which trigger themselves one another. Excellent review! Thank you!

I read this one a while back. I can't quite remember my rating, but I wasn't a huge fan of Coles' writing style. I felt like a seriously great concept was wasted on emotionless and somewhat boring writing.

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I can’t recall the last time I disliked a main character in a book as much as this one. After all he has done in a mere three chapters, I find it difficult to imagine him redeeming himself.

Thanks for your well-rounded review. I enjoy the study of human nature through fiction. I wouldn't have guessed that this book is fictional, if you hadn't mentioned it; it sounds that realistic.
