IslanD-25 by Alan Doer is set on a fictional world known as Crystal. Crystal and Earth had different operating systems. Crystal had a better design compared to the system used on Earth.

In this book, Alex is the focal character. It commences with the scene in which he is woken up from his nightmare by his son, Henry, who sees him mumbling some incoherent words. They strolled down to the food lab, where they got a call from Dario, Alex's father, who works at the Security Array Algorithm. During the call, Alex noticed from Dario that things weren't going smoothly there. Dario later disclosed to him that it was a technical issue. Readers were taken 15 years back. Alex's life was examined until it reached the present timeline. After the breakup with his girlfriend, Marina, a door of sexual escapades with different ladies opened. He ended this wild adventure because he didn't want his life to go on like that.

In Crystal, an increasing number of residents dedicated ample time each day to meditation. This served as a relaxation exercise. It was also a means to connect to their inner selves. Life in Crystal was somewhat perfect, with technological development at an optimum level. However, at some point, Jasmine informed Alex of a new revolutionary project called D-25. This project entailed the construction of a new residence that would be perfect and comprise a better environment than Crystal. Alex was thrilled to embark on it. On the other hand, the relationship between Earth and Crystal was fast going down the drain.

A good part of the book discusses the concept of meditative practices. The residents of Crystal undertook meditation, which, in turn, helped the stability of the town and had a significant positive influence on their lives. I always looked forward to the meditative exercises, as just reading them elicited a positive effect on me, and I'd love to try them out. During one of Alex's discussions with his parents, I learned some facts from their discussion about the global pandemic, COVID-19. Their conversation was very insightful, and I appreciated this part of the book.

I found the level of technological development in Crystal enthralling. Everyone's life is made relatively easy by the availability of several technological amenities. When Jasmine mentioned the programme for the Subsea Life Lab and specialised underwater photography, my interest was further piqued. I liked the notion of public speaking in the narrative. When Jasmine was recounting to Alex how she presented her thesis, the discussion included beneficial advice on how to overcome stage fright, and I appreciated this. I admired Alex's friendship with Jimmy, his best friend. Although Jimmy got married, he didn't let that make him forget Alex. It was good to know they could share any episode in each other's lives.

IslanD-25 is an intriguing book. The first thing that caught my attention while reading was the excellent descriptive proficiency of the author. This made it possible to envision the scenarios he wrote about. An example is the author's description of the thermal park. The chapters had titles accompanying them. However, they were vague, as they didn't reveal the contents of the chapters. Instead, they heightened the reader's interest to read on and uncover what it talks about.

I'll rate IslanD-25 5 out of 5 stars. I couldn't pinpoint any negative aspects of it. I loved how fast-paced the storyline progressed. It was good to know that the book dove into the action without much ado.

I noted no single error, showing that the book was remarkably edited. I recommend this book to readers who are fans of fantasy narratives with perfect residency. Some technology gadgets were mentioned, and as such, enthusiasts of anything related to technology would find this piece engaging and insightful. The text has some sexual scenes, and in light of this, I wouldn't recommend it to kids.
