It sounds like the character Yvonne has quite the struggles in life, much like many women do in reality. I read the sample pages, and I thought the writing was well done, but the language wasn’t to my liking. With the additional violence and sex scenes, I’m going to pass on this one. Thanks for the good information.

This sounds like a good read showcasing the lives of African Americans living in the US. I am looking forward to reading this. Too bad about the cliffhanger though. Thanks for your review!

This is an inspiring literary fiction on an African American fiction drama highlighting greed, desperation, perseverance, faith, and love. The book is temporarily free on Amazon Kindle and has an inciteful OnlineBookClub review. I rated the book 3 out of 4 stars. Congrats @CorneliusNealO1 on the BOTD.

Excellent review! The details were informative, thus getting people to want to read this book. However, the details did not intrude on the substance of the book or give any clues as to how the story ended. The statement of the last chapter was disappointing and left a cliffhanger was slightly discouraging but also makes one want to read the book and discover the ending.

I do try to support books starring African Americans, but I really don't like coming-of-age tales, and since this book has several, it has to be a 'no' for me. Thanks for the introduction, just the same.

Mirrors of Life by Neal Owens sounds amazing if not for anything, the fact that it has great sociological themes. That alone is a turn on for me and ofcourse I will consider reading it. Great review.
Books are beautiful.

This sounds like quite a thought-provoking story; a young African American woman wants her child to be educated, and have opportunities to do things that were never possible for her. I like that the books aim is to really get readers to think about the racial issues that many people have to face. Thanks for the engaging review!

A young African American woman wants her child to get the education and opportunities that she didn't. The cover made me think this was science fiction, but it isn't.

A fantastic Hollywood style fiction story in the book "Mirrors of Life" by Neal Owens, which revolves around an African-American woman who tries to teach her kids how to deal with racial discrimination and seems quite inspiring. The characters are exceptionally gifted and internationally acclaimed where Junior is a sportsman. Derrick is a film producer. The story appears quite entertaining.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

This sounds like a brilliant debut novel. I love that there is amazing character development, many that are coming of age, and how it discusses themes that many can relate to. But most importantly, it talks about education and racial discrimination. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

A novel that addresses issues associated with the lives of African Americans, such as racism, the value of education, juvenile delinquency, single-parent families and others. In this novel, these topics are approached with a more innovative approach. It is a recommended book for young adults, social workers, pastors and educators.

Interesting choice for a title. But somehow I feel it is missing something. I am guessing it's a story about perseverance, a rags to riches kind, if you will. But, I just got over the coming of age types a few years ago.
The review really did get me interested though.
Books may well be the only true magic.

This does sound like a unique debt novel. The graphic sex does not really appeal to me, but the concept of mirrors is interesting. I’d be curious to see if there’s different meanings hidden within the novel for different readers.
