I think I understand how bubbly and interesting duke Reynolds would be, considering he is someone that swallows swords and does other interesting things that way. The description is a good one, with two men finding themselves in horrible situations which are oddly similar, I'm glad they are able to help each other. Experience indeed, is the best teacher. It's also a great thing that the characters are totally likeable. What more is there to need when reading a book and feeling the fictional characters as if they aren't fictional? Anyway, great review. Keep it up!

Character-driven books can be a nice change from action-packed novels, especially when the characters are as interesting as Duke and Gary seem to be. :) Great review!

Thanks for the interesting review. This doesn't sound like a book that will interest me. The sword swallowing was a bit off-putting to me.

Thanks for your review! I'm eager to find out if the characters are able to overcome their insecurities and alcoholism.

Duke and Gary are portrayed as characters whose weakness does not hold them down. I like that despite not being perfect, the reader can root for them and their positive traits.

I like character driven stories where the characters are developed throughout the book. I always want to enter the minds of characters and I'm sure I'll enjoy reading this book. Thanks for this interesting review.

The premise sounds interesting, and the story sounds good, I just hope the writing is on the same level. Congrats!

by the sound of it, this is a book a i would still enjoy despite not being an action packed.. i'm quite excited how it tackles alcoholism and drug addiction and it helps that it has interesting characters.. good job on the review!

Glad I read your review. I had no idea it was broken into three separate parts. I read the excerpt on Amazon and just figured that the Chico Kid would make his appearance eventually. Don't know if I'll like that format, but your review was positive so I'll give it a shot.

This book seems really interesting! So is most of the story's emphasis on Gary rather than Duke? Or are the two more equal protagonists? If so, did you find them about equally interesting?

I love the fact that the characters have layers and flaws yet the author finds a creative way to pull them together. As the reader, you begin to route for the flawed yet human character, which gives another dimension to the plot. I am looking forward to completing this read.

Thanks for your review. This doesn’t seem like my style of book, especially with the alcoholism, language and nudity you mentioned!

Loved your review. I read this before downloading the book. I probably wouldn't have downloaded it prior to reading your thoughts. I normally don't enjoy books that are about alcoholics, but this author handles that so well. I'm not very far into it yet, but Duke doesn't appear to be a mean drunk. I am thoroughly enjoying the story. Thanks for your review! :tiphat:

A character-driven story about alcoholism, drugs, insecurities, friendship, and hope. From the review, the narration seems like an enjoyable read.

Wow your review flow's, it has simplified everything, and also how the author brings the characters together with different skills quite interesting. Thanks for the review
