I think the author did a good job of selecting Bible passages that were relevant to each man mission. I think the author might be Christian or Jewish and he wanted to add some religious depth/perspective to his stories.
The strongest impetus a man will ever have, in an individual sense, will come from a woman he admires.

Yes, I agree that the scriptures were wisely selected to match the missions.

There are those that consider the Bible as a word of God. Others take it as a self help book. And some a book of wisdom. If you can't tie anything from the Bible with any aspect of your life, that is a bit disappointing. I think the quotes are anything but not out of place.

I enjoyed the quotes from the Bible, It made me feel like the author was putting scripture that meant something deep to him. I did think it was kind of weird the language that was used throughout the story paired with the scripture at the beginning. But all in all I think adding the scripture was good.

I agree. I'm not religious either, but I appreciate the Christian bible as literature. Not only do many passages provide apt quotes for specific situations, but writers often use little snippets of words to make terrific book titles, like Agatha Christie's "Through a Glass Darkly."
You make a good point, in that the Bible provides people with quotes that apply to a variety of situations. I am also non-religious, but I have read parts of the Bible (including during a university humanities class, where it was treated as historical literature). I tend to stay away from books that are religiously based, but I do not find the inclusion of Bible passages along with famous quotes to be overbearing.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

I would like to think the scriptures were meant to give an insight to the mission at hand. However, I don't always get the inclusion of the other quotes. I guess I can not seem to marry the two. It is either the quote or the scripture depending
on which one makes more sense to me at the time. I have no problem with the inclusion of scripture. It just makes me ask what message should I expect from the author.

I think what you are getting at is reasonable, but I don't think that Man Mission was meant to be a religious book. The Bible has inspired many writers. I guess I just don't see an issue with alluding to a religious text in a secular or mainstream book. If, however, the book was being marketed and sold as a Christian text, it would be more problematic.
Hear here! I didn't even find them as engaging as the mission logs were.

Most of the bible passages seemed out of place to me in the context in which they were used.I couldn't relate most of them with the events they preceded.

I am a religious person and as such the quotes made a lot of relevance to me and contributed so much to making the book interesting.

I liked the quotes as they presented an ideas as to what the chapter was about while retaining the inherent wisdom of the Biblical passage.

I think my perception might have been altered because I listened to it on audible instead of actually looking at the text.

As a "religious" person, did you find the language offensive?

Not really, to me, most of what others would terms as offensive language was mild.
