I think it's funny that they had rules at all. Did you every establish rules for your vacations?

They also had a Man-Mission log that kept their "stats." How male is that?

I like the saying "he who whines loudest wears" the pink bracelet." It is definitely the funniest rule for the group. Since all of their missions are pretty hardcore, I can see where whining would not be allowed.

Haha! This is such a fun topic!
Mine is 'showering is optional.'
However, my choice is not a reflection of my hygiene status, or is it?

The Rules are an interesting part and generally humourous. I wear a pink bracelet daily, but I don't consider myself a whiner. Interesting.

No employing of tour guides during their Man Missions across the brutal and remote places in the continents in order to look manly.

I find most of the man mission rules symbolic of the male ego. I feel the rules were meant to push them to their very limits until they can't endure anymore. Two of such man misson rules are "He who whines loudest wears the pink bracelet" as well as "Go beyond your limits" and "Travel under your own power. I liked these rules.

My favorite rule was "Travel under your own power" although there were a couple of the trips where they did not follow this rule completely. I think it was what made the vacations such an adventure.

I, personally, did not like the pink bracelet rule. The guys in this book were too intent on being the manliest. Is that even a real thing? Are men really that obsessed with being many?

“He who whines loudest wears the Pink Bracelet.”
I liked how sometimes the recipient vehemently protested, and sometimes he would just accept it because it is what it is.

For me it's definitely the "pink bracelet" rule. They were merciless with that one. I was especially tickled by how often the main character got handed the thing. :D

I found the one about bathing being an optional affair somewhat hilarious. As someone who's served in the armed forces myself, there are really quite a few guys who haven't the slightest idea of how to take of their bodies..and it's these individuals that usually have to see the doc during training for various.. "issues".

Agree - I didn't like the pink bracelet rule as much. But I think that was part of the point of the book: they initially were very obsessed with seeming ultra manly but gradually became more open and more away from these over the top ideals.
