I think that the author has blended everything flawlessly. But I agree that conflict is the major theme of the story

The author has a way of blending everything together but I think conflict is the major root of everything that happened so it's definitely the major theme in this book

I believe conflict is the main theme of the story. This is because if there is no conflict, there will be no wars and no crimes committed. As they also say, friendships are found through adversities. Romance can also bloom amongst conlfict.

Conflict stands out most but I loved the political part of it most.

I think greed is the main theme. Greed is the main catalyst that leads to all the events starting with the kidnapping of John Cook in order to ask for ransom, this clearly shows greed for money.

For me major theme in Skills of Warramunga was Aboriginal skills of jungle tracking. All the plots from kidnaping Colonel Johnny Cook, to later kidnaping Inspector Douglas and Colonel Samuel Martin were leading to the showcase of those skills.

I think politics is a prominent theme here. Conflicts of interest lead to violent reactions like the crimes and kidnapping in this book.

I agree, conflict is the major theme in this book. Rest things weren't that much in comparison.

Ferdinand_otieno wrote: 02 Oct 2019, 00:00 A lot of themes stand out in this book from espionage, crime, romance, friendship, politics, war, and conflict. Which do you think is the major theme in the story? And why?

For me conflict seems to be a driving force to the plot and is thus the major theme, in my opinion. The conflict instigated byPieter de Groote, conflict associated with Johnny cook's kidnapping and the husstle of his rescue, the conflict of theassassination plot...all in all, it was a major theme in this book. What about you?
A botched uprising that was detected and cleverly neutralized by Aussie team combined with the local police.

The book is a master pack of all the themes mixed nicely but the main theme is conflict.

With as much as there are other themes in this book, conflict dominates the better part of the story. Johnny's kidnapping was as a result of a conflict. In fact, most of the events in the book are as a result of conflicts.

I don't know if I'd call conflict a theme of the book but it was definitely the driving force of the plot. I think that friendship was a theme in the tie that Johnny, Jamie, and Jacko had and how willing they were to help each other. I would say teamwork plays into that as well.

Even though the book is categorized as a historical fiction, the theme of politics and war is what stood out for me in the novel.

I think politics is the major theme. The British are planning to help transfer powers to native representatives. Moreover, the drubbing they took from the Japanese seem to have affected their image while fueling colonialist tendencies of random elements of axis powers.
