Unfortunately, I failed to see God's love in the passages included. I only saw his anger at what his creation had become and the destruction that occurred on earth.

I agree, I think God's love shone off the pages after Cain killed his brother. God could have turned his back on Cain, but instead he ensured his safety.
couldn't have said it better than you two.

Well, why would he put something he claims is dangerous there. It is almost like he was purposefully tempting them both and eve gave in.

There are several loose ends and cliff hangers about these stories.

I agree that God's love can be seen even when he judges us. The story of Cain and Abel deeply explains it all

The story from thr begining to the end is just full of God showing his love for his creation, even when God dressed Adam and Eve even after they had rebelled.

I think the story of the Exodus in Section 4 shows God love. The Israelites left bondage in Egypt and things were so bad in the desert they were wishing they were back in Egypt. In spite of this, the Lord provided them food and kept them safe.

I also think it's the one where God had to exile Cain for killing his brother but still ensure his safety by putting a mark on him.

Both the story of Adam & Eve and Cain & Abel show God's love in such a beautiful way. I think it really shows that God gives us choices, he wants us to do well but also allows us the free will to make mistakes. With both of these stories we see how He merciful He is when He gives his punishment, which in both times has His creation spared, but also with some consequences, a lot like a parent.

Despite the wrath of God outlined in the storm, God shows his love into the story of Cain. He had the authority remember.

Why did he require a blood sacrifice in the Cain and Abel story? Also the big Angry God story is the Flood. He killed everything on the earth that wasn't on the ark.
I second the motion. Cain is a horrible brother, a disrespectful son of God and a murderer. Yet, God still chose to protect him. That is what I called love.

I agree with all the points you make. That's why I tend to shy away from the Old Testament and focus on the New Testament. The angry and punishing God depicted is hard to relate to and I often don't understand why He acts the way He does.

I think then story of Adam and Eve shows both God's love and his wraith by the way he punishes them for their disobedient act.

I'm with you on this as well. There is no truer reflection of God's love than in this story.
Is this really a depiction of His love, though? He tells Cain to murder Abel. Regardless of the fact that He put a mark on Cain to save his life, He still orchestrated it. How is that love?

I think every story does convey God's love. Even though God's disappointment with the people is expressed, God finally renews the covenant and reminds them of their election for a special purpose.
