I so much agree with you. If I was the author, I would also change the title of the book to Cynthia and Sky instead of the present title. Dan played a very minor ole to be featured as the title of this book.

The relationship between Cynthia and Dan ended in a flash, like they never dated; that wasn't a good one for me. I would have made Dan a more important character than making him look like a loser and later hated by everyone. I would have also worked on Cynthia's character so she didn't look cheap and easy to get.

I think I will do a lot of work on the character aspect. The characters need a lot of work. I think I will make the characters look real while reading.

I would want Cynthia to tell Sky about the miscarriage.

Cynthia's love life will be altered by me. I'll have to rewrite something to force Cynthia to choose between Sky and Dan.

I would change some of the decisions made by Cynthia. She was too free with Sky. I would also change Dan's approach to Cynthia.

I would remove the one night stand part with Sky. Cynthia fell too easy and it made a caricature of her part as an agent who could detect terrorist attacks but have sex with a complete stranger.

I agree, the book was alright. To me, it seemed like it was two books: the spy thriller and the romance novel. It didn't do well as either one. Perhaps if the author picked one to concentrate on it would've turned out better?

From the start I would first go for the title. I would change it to Cynthia and Sky. Sky seemed to be everywhere all through the story.

One sure change if I were the author would be scrapping out the one-night-stand. Next would be making Cynthia less naive.
