I was not really put off by the descriptions. The scenes were very intense, but it only added to the excitement and uniqueness of the story.

The author made use of enough descriptive elements to bring the story to life as you read it. The suspense was almost tangible. It was adequately intense enough to trigger my aquaphobia.

I think that there is an inherent suspense and intensity to using the ocean as a setting. Water is such a powerful force, and being on a boat in the middle of the ocean is so isolating!

Very true, and it is quite unpredictable as well, despite what weather forecasters would have us think! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

This book was really intense and full of suspense, but to me, it was part of what made this book so good! Those kinds of moments were the ones that gripped me and elicited a real emotional response. I love books that have this effect!

With most books, so do I. But this one revolved around one of my worst fears. Naturally, that made the scenes which normally would have been exciting, somewhat overwhelming. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with me!

This book was intense. It describes the intensity and adrenaline one feels when trying to avert a disaster that seems to want to happen. The ocean scenes of salvaging the boat that was adrift were described perfectly. Things move fast on a boat. Too fast. A deckhand has to have an eye on everything at once while still doing the job at hand. This book had the right amount of suspense.

I agree; events do sometimes seem to take on a life of their own. Multi-tasking should be in the job description for deckhands! Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting!
