Sarah's role

How important was Sarah as a characterer to the other people around her? She was the youngest and yet she was the most positive person and believed William was still alive.

In your opinion, was it William or Sarah (through William's stories) that was the source of strength and sanity for the crew that was stranded on the island to survive?

I think the story about Sarah is what that inspired the sanity and strength enjoyed by the crew. The narrator, William, also played a part.

Sarah had that positive determination that William was okay and sometimes, I argued that it was forsight or intuition. She helped Myra believe that she might see her father again.

I haven't read Strong Heart but Sarah and William's stories did made me want to read it. It seems like a book as good as Adrift.

For me, it was Sarah's personality that was holding the crew together. I mean, everyone has their fair share of giving up and losing sanity, but Sarah kept her feet on the ground and try to give strength in the midst of the impossible.

Sarah was extremely important. Even though she isn’t a main character the story wouldn’t have been the same without her. I haven’t read the first book so I don’t know her full story. Her positivity and energy shined through in this book. With his story I believe William was the one who made others feel strong. His ability to tell stories while they were in such dire circumstances, along with his other attributes, showed his strength. In regards to helping Myra believe that her father could still be alive, and in keeping the groups spirits lifted while searching for William, Sarah definitely helped others feel more strong.

I believe it was both. For one, William was the one who told them the story. I believe his age and the fact that he had hope of surviving meant much to the other crew members. Sarah was a source of inspiration on her own too. Someone could easiy doubt the credibility of her story.

I really enjoyed reading about Sarah, she holds many unmovable characteristics that I find inspiring. I imagine the other characters, survivors and otherwise, feel the same way. Sarah acts as an immovable force of hope back on the mainland, when the future looks dim she holds on to the belief that the odds are in their favor. She also represents what spiritual connection and reconnecting with your roots and nature can do for you. This feeling of hope and the spiritual belief carries on through William's stories of her. After all isn't what stories do, pass down lessons and thoughts years after they happen to hopefully influence those who hear it.

In William's story Sarah was the pillar of hope, to Myra she was the source of faith that her father was still alive. She also is a reminder that for one who hasn't read the fir book then you should make an effort to read it.

Sarah played a very important part especially in keeping the other crew members occupied and in finding William. At some point she was almost the only positive person on William being alive.
