There were so many moments in this story that had me practically biting my nails! It was action packed from beginning to end. The entire crew of the Express having to abandon ship and survive in lifeboats for days in December due to a raging fire was terrifying. Larry losing body parts, and ultimately his life (despite blood transfusions from crew mates), while trying to bring in a dead ship and keep a company afloat was horrific. The seal hunt, and subsequent murder, by the starving portion of the Express crew stranded on Haida Gwaii was disturbing too. Yet, I think I was probably most nervous as Myra et al. searched for her father. I was so anxious for him to be found and brought to safety after all he and his shipmates endured.

When Lary's arms and legs got amputated! that was scary. Imagining the helplesness of Lary got me more scared than worried.

Since reading the book, I have also not forgotten the part where Buckhorn decided to send their own tugs to tow their ship. I knew that things were not going to be easy. The first thing that came to ind was that perhaps a big conflict would have resulted.

This was really scary indeed. In most instances, what results when an artery is cut is blood gushing out which could have been the case with Steve. Apart from bleeding, you never know what was going in his mind sensing that he had lost half of his foot.

Yeah. And the good thing is both parties resolved the issue.

When Travis found William.I was convinced he was gone. And to me that was an anticlimax, because all along I had hoped against hope that William would survive.

While drifting at sea on their lifeboat, William' team's lifeboat capsized twice. This sounds like a small issue when read but I guess we can all imagine what was going on in their minds.

This would have been good to see how Larry would have apprehended the Buckhorn tugs and also if he could have managed to keep the company running. Too sad that he died. The amount of blood lost could not allow him to live longer. The situation is made worse by the fact that he was at sea.

Yeah, it was quite a relief. Thanks to Louise who applied some wisdom and the Buckhorn tugs had to give in. Otherwise fighting against the company would have been a hard thing.
