I actually pronounced him dead.

I got anxious when Larry's leg got amputated due to the severity of the situation. The time when William was found and his state was indicating that he was dead also got be tensed up. I really wanted him to survive.

I'm with you on the amputation scene, as someone who has been around medical personnel all her life this is my worst nightmare. Having to amputate a limb, or in this case two, without proper supplies to do so with is horrible when you know all the ways it can go wrong. I was tensed liked a bow string until the end, which is the sign of a good book.

Me too. Unfortunately, he died. What a tragedy.

I know, right? The author did a diligent job in his writing.

Stephanie Elizabeth wrote: 09 Apr 2019, 09:13 The first part of the book when they all jumped onto the lifeboats was a real page-turner. Having this emergency situation happen right at the beginning of the book was clever as it got me hooked and anxious to see what would happen. Would Steve and his crew survive or would they succumb to injuries and hypothermia?
Very true.

For me it was when they had to leave the burning ship and escape by using the lifeboat, which they literally had to drop into the rough sea.

There were many moments - the fire, Larry's accident then the first capsizing of Steve's boat when none of the crew knew what would happen next. The bashing of William's boat on the jagged shoreline. Not much had been said about them before this anyway, and it looked like it was their end.

For me prior to and during Larry's accident. I felt my heart racing a bit. I thought he was going to die right there.

The part where Steve had to release the lifeboat from the Seattle Express raised my adrenaline. Can you imagine being in a tiny boat with huge waves all around you? Waiting to drop must have been terrifying!

Yes, there were quite a number of scenes. And true, the end was somewhat left hanging.

The same part affected me too. I was panicked when I knew there was no way Larry could benefit from some medical supplies. I guess that part scares me most about the sea.
