ARA Review by nkemako7 of The Reel Sisters

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

The Reel Sisters

The Reel sisters is a wonderful story about the close - knit relationship and togetherness shared by five women. The common interest they shared? Fly fishing!

The five ladies ( Rosie, Sophie, Veronica, Amanda & Melodie) all met in different spectacular ways that made their bond so unique and precious. Their love for fly fishing, an outdoorsy type of sport was mostly borne out of their need to escape once in a while from their various demanding engagements. The tranquility of the water and the satisfaction of netting a fish, then allowing it to escape back into the water was such a thrill for them.

"A river runs through it," a movie starring Brad Pitt, increased Sophie's love for fishing, while for Rosie - a veteran angler, it was a book written in the 1400s by a nun named, Dame Juliana Berners. Thus she named her dog, DJ, after the nun.

Rosie's cabin was their usual retreat when they wanted to get together for some fly fishing. Rosie - the eldest of the five friends watched over them like a mother hen and they loved and respected her in return. They generally looked out for each other.

The fly fisherman language used in the text was an appealing touch, as well as the different equipment and techniques used in fly fishing. Some of these include; fly-tying, hackle, catch and release, casting, netting etc.

The ending was 'brutal' though. But I'm glad that the ladies still looked out for each other even through their shared grief. An amazing read!

I rate The Reel Sisters, 5 out of 5
