Re: 2016 Reading Challenge

I read so many books in a single month, I could not tell you my average. It also depends on the length and reading difficulty of each book. In the last month, I read at least 10 books, all for a library technology course. I had to write reviews for some and feature others on a storyboard design. One of those books I was reading for the very first time was the 50th Anniversary edition of The Outsiders. I had seen the movie adaptation some years ago, but had never read the book. I'm glad I finally read it. I love reading fiction, but I am very particular about what fiction I read. I will never read the Twilight series, but I am an enormous fan of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (now complete with original zombie mayhem), and I also want to read the prequel Dawn of the Dreadfuls. I usually don't go for zombie literature or zombie movies, but this was blended so cleverly with classic literature that I just couldn't resist.

Aloha,

The course you taken, "library and technology", is that for the library degree? Not being rude, I thought it was exterme hard to get in now. I will provide an example. In MI, many libraries are requiring a college degee for checking out books, etc.

Do you like the class? Why did you choose this path, with the slim pickings? I am sorry for many questions. I wish I could be a librarian.

Blessings

This is a cool feature. I am a little against setting the goal though as I prefer to be free form and read more when travelling or over the break for holidays.

I made a goal on goodreads. My reading goal was 90 but I made it to 229 as of today. I might finish several more books this month. Next year I will probably set my goal higher than 90.

I love having a challenge at the beginning of the year, so I got on board with a bunch of other people to do a Reading Challenge this year -- everything from the book I was afraid to read to the one published the year I was born. It was interesting to push myself to read those books I really didn't want to (because they'd been forced on me as a student). Now I'm glad I did read those books. Invisible Man wasn't as intimidating as I'd believed, and Hemingway's shorter work was enjoyable. Now I need to find a list for 2017!

I didn't have a reading goal in 2016, so I think I'm setting the bar low fo 2017 and aiming for 25 books.

I sadly didn't come anywhere near my goal for last year, which was 25 books. While I can blame being a mother with two jobs, mostly it was because I started watching shows before bed instead of reading. Plan to break that habit this year!
