Being a horror and a mystery lover, the cover made me eager to read the book right away.

At first I was turned off by the Scream face on the cover. Then I read how it was part of the story and I understood why it was used.

The Vijay gave on the cover made me want to read this book less. I think that it is unappealing and, may give people a false sence of what the book is about.

FictionLover wrote: 01 Dec 2018, 08:48 The cover definitely turned me off. I read the sample previously and was not impressed. I think that was because the cover gave me the creeps, and I really focused on the fear and horror of being stalked and kidnapped, and I did not want to read a book with lots of violence and gore.

This morning I re-read the sample (still not finished) and I find that I am enjoying the book more and relating more to the Paul character. I may have misjudged this book based on the cover!

The front cover also 100% turned me off. I think it looks creepy & I wasn't a fan of the Scream franchise so didn't have that connection. Glad to hear it's good despite the cover - think I'll give it a try :)

The book cover is definitely the type of book covers that I skip automatically without hesitation. Even though they say don't judge the book from its cover, in this case, I do. Blood and ghosts are things I choose not to read about.

I didn't like the cover page of this book. Somehow, it did put-off my interest. I like reading books with less violence and gore.

The cover did make me more likely to purchase the book. I love these types of books.

Sometimes covers have the reverse reaction they are intending, depending on the individual's experience with that imagery. I have seen plenty of people pickup or even buy a book strictly on the cover. You'll always find me reading the synopsis over cover browsing, any day!

Much less! I had a hard time getting past the cover, especially since it was reminiscent of some horror movies.

No, the 'Ghost face' image did not make me want to read the book. The use of that particular cover image felt like a cheap grab for horror lovers and came off a bit cheesy, to me. However, because it is such an iconic horror image, it communicated very clearly to its audience what genre this book falls into. So in that sense, well done?

I think the cover did influence my decision to read. I liked the book a lot. If there was a different cover, I may have not been as influenced to read it.

The ghost face on the cover caught my attention and made me want to read the book. Although that wasn't the only reason, it was a definite plus.

I do not really like the horror genre, so the cover definitely turned me off the book.

Actually, the cover with the ghost face mask did more to put me off this book as I am not really a fan of the scream movies. This mask has also been used in several other movies that I did not really like, as well as TV series, as masks for thugs robbing banks and so. However, in the end, the plot of the book and the mask fits very well together, in my opinion. The mask gave an element of spine numbing chill to the story.

At first glance, it made me want to read this book a bit less. Mainly because it brings the "Scream" series into mind and while good, were not very serious movies. It made me not expect a very serious horror novel. However, I'm always a big fan of giving books a chance regardless of first impressions.
