McDowell can turn into a very intriguing movie because it has all the elements in it including the non-linear storyline

I think every book can be adopted to screen and this book can be adopted as well. It can add to its charm if done properly.

I think this would be a really good movie. The novel was very interesting and I think it would make a very interesting movie.

The book sounds like a good read, but I feel that it wouldn't make a good movie.

Absolutely yes! But I think a TV series would be more achievable cos of there are lots of events going on and a two-hour movie is just not enough.

Sure, a move or even a series. The visuals are not the strong suit of the novel, in my opinion, but that could definitely be managed by a creative team. The plot and the dialogues are there, the main character is complex and interesting and the story has a lot of twists to work with, and with a good cast I think it could work.

I personally wouldn't want to watch it as a movie, seeing all the title character's faults on the big screen would be unbearable.

Well, making McDowell a movie is tantamount to suicide on the part of the director and the producer. Almost always, a book version is so much better than a movie version. This is a pattern I observe over the many instances that the movie industry tries to bring a good book to the big screen. McDowell is not a good book in the first place! So, I'm sure a movie version of it will be a flop. Some of the good books that became a disaster in the movies include
1. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
2. The Cat in the Hat
3. Eragon

I could go on and on, the list is long.

It could be a good movie but not one I would be enthusiastic about. The delay in the build up of the major lead and the educative aspects of the book makes it less entertaining. This is my personal view.

McDowell has all the ingredients required to make it a movie, and the thrilling moments of climbing the mountain, and escaping in the wilderness of Montana by McDowell will be a great experience to watch on the screen.

Yes! McDowell can produce interesting scripts that can easily be turned into a movie. The themes in this book will make a nice film.

I don't think it will make a good movie except it has a very creative director who would spice it up a little because it revolves around the protagonist, it could become boring fast.

Part 2 of the story would do well as a movie. It had more intrigue in it.

Personally, I don't think so, I enjoyed reading it but I won't enjoy watching it, especially the part that he was a fugitive, won't do well in a movie.

Yes, this would be a great movie. In fact, it might be a better series. Consider some of the themes: the rise of the brilliant narcissistic surgeon, the treks on the mountains and leaving your buddy behind, the troubled grandchild who kills, assisted suicide or murder, and life on the road after escape from prison. Quite a rich array of stories can be pulled from this book.
