Oh, wow, I didn't even think of that possibility. That would certainly complicate things a lot more. But I think if the author includes pregnancy in the story then it will be in the third book. It just fits better at the end.

Well, I would like them to have a happy ending, but it definitely does not seem like the most likely scenario. There is too much enmity and prejudice on the part of both families/kingdoms for their love to find a satisfactory conclusion.

I think it was proper ending considering the time period in which they lived. In as much as I would have loved to see Cartrin and Marcellus end together, I wasn't disappointed at the book's ending.

What ending? I feel as if this was the first half of a full book. The open endedness of this novel is frustrating as heck to me.

When it comes to fiction, I'm a masochist.

I want a sad ending. Tragic. Even for the happiest of characters. Let the tears roll down my cheeks, and I'll treasure that book. Perhaps that's why Robert Cormier is my favorite author.

Of course, everyone wants a happily ever after, fairytale, ending. However, that seems unrealistic. It's most likely that these two would have had a more Romeo and Juliet type of love.

I like happy endings. Although any ending is okay for me
Feeling upset sometimes may be unavoidable, but acting distressed is always optional.

I'm torn on this. I am a big fan of forbidden love stories that have happy endings, but in this case, a bittersweet ending might be more appropriate. Regardless, I'll be reading the second book.

I'm a sucker for good endings! Yes I know... that's not always real life and what not. But I'm not really looking for real life, sometimes (and you have to agree with me) we read to escape real life to go on fictional adventures in stories. Am I looking for a sad ending? Definitely not! Gods know I love the divergent series but I always always skip the ending... I can't even stand the titanic or Romeo and Juliet.
What we achieve inwardly will change our outer reality far more greatly than anything else.

I would certainly prefer a happy ending. Catrin and Marcellus unite defying the forces, and hence send a positive feeling to the society, old or new. The society does get affected by the views of a book.

I always prefer a happy ending to a star crossed one. Who wants to get emotional invested in a story for it to not end well. :eusa-think:

It would be nice to have a happy ending where they can be together. But this is not very realistic. Also killing them off like Romeo and Juliet would be too extreme. Maybe they will decide to do what is best for their family and countrymen and go their separate ways, but secretly still loving each other forever.

A happy ending wouldn't be as realistic as them ending up as star-crossed lovers, but who says the ending has to be completely realistic? Really, either way could be a good ending, it all depends on how the writer handles it.

I would like a happy ending of the series, it's not because I like happy endings, it's because I am fall in love with the idea of "peacelovenature44". Its because this will meet two enemy tribes together.

EVErybody loves a good happy ending . Although historically they might ignore not ended you being together but for the sake of fiction let it be so.
