I'm around a third of the way through it. They just got onto the island.

Oh, let's go for a sail. Totally safe. Nothing can happen on a boat surrounded by water.

Foolish, foolish Brian.

Lol, he is foolish.

I am on the island with them, and there are plenty of creepy things out there. I like the story, but I don't find it that scary.

Ok, I finished the book! It was a short one and ended in cliff-hangar! Now we have to wait for the 4th and final book in the series. Have you finished it?

I haven't finished yet.

A fourth book?! I didn't think we'd get a fourth one! That's awesome. 8)

Ollie just came back from...somewhere?
Gave her dad water. He's better.

I'm confused.

I finished!

I rated it a 3 (I didn't like a few things, and it also felt like it wasn't quite as involved as the last 2 books).

I hate cliffhangers! But I'm looking forward to the next one.

I like that they now have Phil, like the use of Champ (and an interesting take at that!), and liked that we got at least a nod to LGBTQ+ (always nice).

Wish we had gotten to see a bit of Ollie's perspective, if only to see exactly what the deal is (how it's worded, etc.).

I also rated it 3/4 and found it less good than previous books. I hate cliffhangers! Hopefully, the last book will be better than this one.

Phil was a nice addition. A pity we didn't see as much of the Smiling Man, though. Somehow, Champ was less scary than him.

Do you mean between the Captain and his officer? It was smoothly done.

The ending was too abrupt, and I can't wait wait to see what happens next!

Yeah, the Captain and Tom. I'm really paranoid about supporting authors if there's not at least a little LGBTQ+ inclusion.

I can't wait to see what happens!

There's something I'm confused about...
Who left the clue? Because I don't think the Smiling Man would have. I mean, they might have figured it out and stayed home, and then he'd have lost. I know he likes games, but I can't find any upside for him if he left it.

But who else might it have been?

Like I said, confused.

No doubt I'm just reading into it too much. :shifty:

I believe the Smiling Man left that clue. As they didn't figure out the clue at first, they thought they will be safe on the boat. So they thought... He also had a deal with Ollie about her father.
