He might have superpowers. When it comes to the question of the race, why would it matter. I guess I don't notice these kinds of things.

That is a thought-provoking question. I haven't read a single book or seen a movie where black people are cast as heroes or performed something extraordinary. It has remained as a so-called stereotype that power belongs to the white people. But times are changing and so are the perspectives. And I think doing the normal chores with responsibility is what a present-day superhero should be. And that is exactly what this book is trying to show. Being good, being kind and doing your duty sincerely is what an adult should instill in a child and this is what is lacking in today's world.

Nope! It doesn't matter at all. What matters is the lessons that you can learn from the book.

I agree. Toni is a good role model too.

I think representation is very important, so in a world where the main character is almost always white, I think it is important that little Tony is black.

Even i did not noticed that toni was a black kid until i saw this discussion. It does not matter that toni is black or white he is just a kid and a superhero of course regardless of colour and race.

I don't think any sensible person would have a problem with it.
Absolutely correct. I believe not many readers will have even noticed the colour aspect. The main lesson children would've learnt from the book would be to see Toni happily doing about mundane chores and they would start with, say, tidying their room or collecting their toys after play.

I agree, historically there have been few books where children of color are portrayed as powerful, strong and responsible role models. I grew up in the 60s and there was nothing like this so I am glad to see it.

I think the author intends to build on Toni's strengths and maybe reward him with some extraordinary powers as well.

For me, the story showed that important people (superheroes) still do ordinary activities and chores like everyone else.
I totally agree with your point of view. For me, I believe that racism have got nothing to do with someone being a super hero or an extraordinary person. It can evolve from any race whether white or black.

There's been talk (possibly rumor???) of Michael B. Jordan playing Superman and I am just hoping it actually happens!
    It would be so amazing!

In view of me that doesn't matter the colour of human being because there is no comparison of white and black due to the fact of nature black as important and have well rights as like white.
So that's why little Tony black colour doesn't matter. . .
Thanks for your act of kindness

Toni being a black is a joy to the black. because the black will feel they are not underrated.
