Her probably believes that he is a superhero and he probably believes that he can fly. However, from a parent’s point of view, he is a superhero because he is such a good, healthy and happy boy.
Did you think he was a superhero?
Well, the author has given both touches to her superhero character and has made it acceptable for both parents and kids. From parents point of view he is a good boy with healthy activities. And his superhero costume and flying capabilities make him attractive for children.

No doubt, hero is not dependent on costume to exhibit his heroic qualities. Rather his determination to achieve challenges makes him a hero.

Toni's are enough to make him a superhero in the eye of children. Plus his costume gives him an exceptional look.

I did not see Toni as a superhero. Given his age, I believe the adults in his life played along with his fantasy of being extraordinary. This is normal play for children at this age. As parents, we like to encourage positive behaviors in our children. One way to do this could be by telling them that they are our 'superheroes'.

I would have liked to see more of his superpowers, but I think the story needed a person titled as a "superhero" to attract kids and at the same time teach them how to enjoy ordinary things.

I think we are who we choose to be! If Tony wanted to put on a superhero costume and do superhero stuff he was a superhero. Plus the book clearly illustrates him flying so yeah I think Tony is a superhero

For kids, he is a hero, considering all he's able to achieve at that age.

It does not matter what you call Toni, what matter is what he calls himself....You may call me a journalist and I see myself as a writer...

Think about the superheros who don't have superpowers, such as Batman and Ironman, who actually only have money and the idea of what they want to do. Technically Hulk too as Bruce Banner only created the injection to create the Hulk. It's as if Toni is the child-version of these adult superheros.
I love this perspective. That is a really great comparison that you made. Intelligence, a desire to help, and money can all lead to becoming a superhero (no actual powers required!).

It's really quite hard to tell. He is depicted as flying, and the back cover of this book says it is about an extraordinary boy and what he does when he is not saving the day. A future book will be titled, Toni Saves the Day. But the description of Toni Likes Vegetables makes it sound like fighting germs is Toni's version of fighting bad guys. It's quite open to interpretation.

It all depends on how we define superhero, and how we see ourselves. Some superheroes in our lives wear capes, others don't. It's their actions that count. And some actions, though simple, mean more to some people than the most magnanimous gestures.
