Fioretta and Guilliano-because they are the most tragic characters and they started it all.

I like Sophia and Gerhard. Sophia is the strongest of all the female characters and Gerhard has to prove himself to her brothers. She runs the vineyard, creates the cave and saves the painting from the Germans, all after watching Gerhard get violently murdered in front of her.

Giuliano and Fioretta for sure! I felt like their story was the most real. Maybe because they were the two that put everything into motion. I felt like Alex and Angela's relationship was more obsession than love, and Sophia and Gerhards's wasn't really developed as much as the other two.

My favorite couple is Sophia Caro and Gerhard Jaeger. I feel that their love story displayed promise and hope against the backdrop of war.

Fioretta and Giuliano are quite an interesting couple. I loved their scenes. But I also liked the complexity between Alex and Angela.

My favorite couple was Fioretta Gorini and Giuliano de Medici. I found it interesting that they were real people and most of the scenes of their lives that were portrayed in the book actually happened.

I think I enjoyed Fioretta and Guiliano's relationship more. It just seemed sweeter to me even though it ended so horribly. I think I am more biased towards their relationship since I love the historical aspects of it.
Give me the courage to get through this week...or at least a big bar of chocolate :D

I like Angela and Alex best, because I feel they are the best developed characters.

I liked Gerhard and Sophia's story the most and wished it were developed more. I wanted to learn more about their lives together, their daring escape, and the months following their flight. I loved the integration of the letter from Gerhard to his mother. I felt like that developed his character more.
