To just pick up any book, or ebook, I gravitate to fantasy or historical novels from the 1800s to roughly the 1920's. I know those are on totally opposite sides of the spectrum, but I love the similar more down to earth life history. While also enjoy the vivid colors and imagination that goes into a great fantasy novel.

I like cozy mysteries the best, followed by suspense/thrillers. I also enjoy reading non-fiction, so I tend to read multiple books at a time. I like a wide range of non-fiction, anywhere from True Crime to Inspirational reads. I'm not a huge fan of the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or Paranormal genres, so chances are slim if yoi are looking for me down those aisles! :-)

I mostly lean towards action, love, drama and funny books. I used to read only mystery books but I was given books by other and also search other favorites to read them and see if I enjoy them as well. Some where amazing other a waste of time because they where written so awfully.

I gravitate toward Young Adult literature and classics most of the time. I like the stories aimed at the teenage group still, but I also really enjoy the history and talent behind classics.

I tend to initially reach for horror/fantasy. However, I will also regularly pick up murder mysteries, historical fiction, biographies, young adult, sea adventures, classics and a bit of most anything else. The only genres I don't regularly read from are perhaps romance and political commentary, even then it's not never. Just... rare.

Reasons for gravitating to certain genres first... I suppose just that I've found books in those genres that I've enjoyed and I'm always looking for that next favorite that keeps me up all night reading.

Even as a little kid I went for horror and fantasy first (Goosebumps!). Historical fiction was a genre I picked up as an adult. I found I needed distance from public school history classes before I could appreciate reading about history.

My first instict is to launch myself on romance books, look at all the covers trying to find one that screams brilliance, fun and maybe a bit of suspence too. But in the end I read basically everything.

Sci-fi always, the more out there the better. Good fantasy is my second choice. I'll sample anything that catches my attention and anything someone liked enough to hand to me and say "Read this!"

I gravitate toward historical fiction because I tend to learn something about our history while also enjoying the entertainment that fiction books offer.

I tend to choose historical fiction or non-fiction, but I've been trying to branch out into more genres. Though I still seem to pick books that were published decades ago, sometimes even choosing a book series that is completed or with a dead author so I don't have to wait for the next book to come out.

Even though I'm beginning to age out of the demographic, I always go back to YA. I also really gravitate towards Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Dystopian and thrillers.

I like to get into a long mystery series. I can't read the books fast enough!
