So true, Sarah is much more matured for her age.
She was bratty in the beginning but she matured later in the story.

Her disappearance seemed at first a misfortune, but we saw a different Sarah at the end of it all. I think the experience was great for her.

I think Sarah's disappearance was huge for her, life-changing even. I may have believed that she merely had a concussion and dreamed her experience. But since she had no prior knowledge or formal training in the subject, I was led to believe that she truly had a mystical vision. It definitely changed her outlook on her relationship with her grandfather. She was a tough girl who had been through a lot already, though, so I think she was able to handle it.

Her disappearance definitely changed her character.

I agree. She did seem stronger and more mature in some ways, as well as more appreciative of her new family.

It was definitely a taste of both. Her disappearance was good such that she gained a lot of experience and was also helpful in uncovering new data for Sergei's thesis. As for how it was bad we clearly see that Sarah's finger is chopped of and she has a near death experience. Thedisappearance was also bad because it caused a lot of emotional stress for Tom, walleye and Myra.

This is similar to what I said. I also think her disappearance was good and bad.

I also think her disappearance was good and bad, depending on the angle we look at it from. The good out way the bad though.

I think the bad consequences will be the long-term effects if there are any. I would assume the experience would have been traumatic, and she would have some signs of PTSD.

That's true, the bad experience could become traumatic.

I felt that her disappearing was good for the overall story. It changed the way that Sarah thought and acted. It also changed how Tom felt. When he realized she was gone, his parental instincts kicked in and he realized how much he does care about her
