I agree that racy love will not be gushy and descriptive because that's where the imagination of the reader will start.

It depends on the book As long as they're not real long, I don't mind.

Love can vary in meanings, it is arguably subjective therefore I find that many times, “love scenes” are either exaggerated or depicted falsely, however they can also give the reader a deeper immersion into the emotions of the scene.

I think love scenes are hard to write without sounding too mushy or technical or crass. I think it takes away from the story. It’s also difficult to read if it’s not written well and really takes away from the story. I have read books that I thought were great and then they throw in some love scenes that are awkward or vulgar and it ruins the whole thing.

Hi Theresam,

I didn't mind that the love scene wasn't in much detail. I would look for it in more detail in a romance novel. I do wish there was more to their relationship from the beginning. :escribir:

I think to each their own! I can appreciate a good romantic tryst in a book, but it isn't always necessary to have a good book. But many books are trying to depict real emotions and real ideas, and in reality love/romance/sexual situations happen!
