Do you think Freedom fits as the theme of the book? If not, I would appreciate your views.

I think it could be one of the themes present in the book but not the overall theme of the book.

I believe love is the best theme. It fits all three characters. Though the last few pages of the book suggest freedom as the theme. I guess it's all about perspective.

I agree that freedom is a theme of the book, but since it seems restricted to one person's part, it is not the major theme. I would think that music is the major theme as it is the one thing common in all the situations painted. I may be wrong though. I will appreciate contrary opinions

I think the books theme could be trying to find and keep a missing love that can fill your life; whether it is Elias trying to rediscover a lost love that's haunted him, Yaser trying to find love in his deteriorating marriage, and Nadia whose love for her son helps give her the strength to find freedom for the both of them (and must fight for it).

I think that there is definitely the theme of freedom in Nadia's story. She struggled for freedom from her husband, from work, and from society.

Absolutely! Nadia seeks freedom from her submissive role in her culture, Yasir seeks freedom from his prison of a marriage and Elias seeks freedom from a lost love that was built up over many years based on a relationship that developed over just a few days. Freedom is definitely one of the themes of this book in my opinion
