I do not enjoy sci-fi or fantasy novels. I enjoy realism and real life events. I just can't seem to stay interested in a sci-fi or fantasy book especially when something crazy takes place that could never really happen. I do not enjoy this genre in movies either.

I think the overwhelming success of Harry Potter ushered in this era of fantasy books and movies. Maybe the world as it is is no longer enough to entertain us earthlings. I followed Harry to the end but vampires and deadly games are not my thing.

My interests were firmly rooted in the crime and horror genres as I thought fantasy was silly. A friend then introduced me to Piers Antony and Terry Pratchett (among others), and my eyes were opened to worlds where only your imagination is the limit and I am now a firm fantasy fan...

Although I hate to admit it, I am totally addicted to the genre. I can't get enough of dragons and trolls!

I like both genres because they make us experience a different world. So long as the theme is right, i'll go for it.

I love both of these genres. As much as more realistic books are great these have a special place in my heart. These genres give my imagination a stretch a give me an absolute escape.

Even though I have always enjoyed sci-fi television and movies, I never really thought that I liked reading it. It wasn't really until a couple of years ago that I realized that I do. It was the same for fantasy - I always felt as though there were too many characters and the books were too dense. It's really been in the past three or four years that I have become interested in reading sci-fi.

Yes I do love the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre. Well, I love it when it's done right. If the author manages to build a believable and exciting world--with a set of rules that make sense--then the genre can potentially be a success. Star Wars, Star Trek, the Marvel Universe have longevity. Exploring a different world, a new world, intrigues people.

I do like both genres, but for me, it's less about the genre itself and more about whether I think there's an interesting story being told.

I wasn't a massive fan of this genre, I then got introduced to Terry Pratchett's "discworld" series, and I love it, now looking at any other books like this to enjoy, any recommendations would be fab.

I find I've grown out of fantasy, which I know is a sad thing. Sci-fi isn't a genre I like to read, but when I do, I've rarely been disappointed.

I'm not a great fan of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. To be honest I tend to avoid them...
Sometimes though they come up as really good and enjoyable reads, so I always give some of them a chance!

I love to read pretty much everything, especially contemporary, historical fiction and fantasy. It's a strange mix, but it's nice to switch from one genre to the other. Sci-fi on the other hand... I'm not very sure about it. I tried to like it but I don't find it interesting at all.

I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy both so much! I'm a big fan of Orwell, and I love just about every fantasy book I have ever read. I think they are the easiest to love because they paint a picture that really can't be created in my own life. Sci-Fi is particularly interesting because of small possibility that it could happen.
